LEARNER PROFILE FLM4: ELISA LI

“I learnt a lot about leadership styles and what style I should use in a particular situation.”

In her role, as Operations Lead for AA Home, Elisa has one direct report. However, she looks after numerous processes and projects and has a focus on how these can be improved. So, this aspect of her role requires clear communication and interaction with various stakeholders. Elisa found the topics covered in the First Line Management 4 (FLM4) programme gave her the tools to effectively communicate with these people. She says, “The topics enriched my personal competencies and aligned closely with AA Home values.”

She mentions how some of the topics in the programme added to her skillset. “I learnt a lot about leadership skills. I think about what style I should use in a particular situation. In my current role, it’s really important to know a lot of people and have a good relationship with them. Because when you need help, that’s your provider.

The information around empathy and emotional intelligence was really good and it was really useful applying it to your actual work environment.

We also learnt about ethnicity and culture. It was like enhancing you, reminding you that this is something we should all be aware of. Actually, we’re doing pretty good at AA in most of these things.

I also want to give a shout out to our facilitator, Andrew, he was really great. He has so many life experiences and life stories, and he genuinely cares about each person. That aspect was really good. Please give him some personal feedback because he’s awesome!”
