LEARNER PROFILE ATT4: SARAH JOHNSTONE

“I was terrified to start this course. But it turned out to be so much fun.”

In the area where I work, we train people in lodging or refunding. For each of these areas staff need to know certain things. As long as those things are learnt, it’s up to the trainer to develop the plan.

We only have limited time in the training room and we’re always dealing with live data. Right now, it’s very busy. So, I’ve brought on other people as trainers as well. I’ve shared the knowledge I learnt on the course with them. I’ve passed on the notes and put the things I’ve collected into a booklet. So, there’s a trainer booklet now which we never actually had before.

There was one aspect of the course that I particularly enjoyed, and I hadn’t paid much attention to before. The psychology of how people learn, that was something I found really interesting.

The course has built a lot of selfconfidence in me. You know, in the back of your mind you doubt yourself. But now I know I’m on the right track. I can tell myself, yes you are doing the right thing. This is how you can improve and once you’ve improved, the sky’s the limit.

The course is really good. I found that I was really loving it. I was actually really sad when it was over. It’s funny because I was really terrified when I was told you should do this. I thought, ah no. But it was so much fun. I really, really enjoyed it.
